I like pressure around the back of my vaginal passage, some pressure on my gspot, and some stimulation at the entrance/ opening muscles.
So my go tos are Medium 5 Nox when I wanted pressure and length, and Small 5 Crackers when I want something to lock in place full hilted.
I think Echo would feel great. Never tried the model though but he's top heavy with a medial ring which feels pretty dang nice on other toys I have tried.
Personally wouldn't go soft on something so small (I've never had luck with softer smaller toys) but each body is different.

Echo in small soft might feel floppy and lacking in texture. Then again take my opinion with a grain of salt 'cause I'm an unconditional of medium firmness.

I was thinking about a medium but we have a toy that is 6.28 in circumference and it satisfies her but gets uncomfortable. Maybe a med/soft would be perfect.
The tapper definitely helps with insertion and the toy feels satisfying enough just by riding the bulge imo. But there's a lot more to it than the upper third of the shaft. So maybe you should go for a small and then eventually upgrade to a medium should you feel like it or outgrow the small one.
"The best" is subjective. What some may rave over others may not. I had an Echo in soft and found it painful. Normally, I love toys shaped like Echo, but I just couldn't get into it. My go-go for vaginal is Lenneth, a toy many vaginal users don't care for because of the pointy head. I *love* mine. It has reduced me to tears before, in a good way, and has left my legs weak and me a complete blathering idiot for quite a while after a finished session. Crackers is a nice model but unless your wife is a big fan of texture, I'd go for it in soft firmness. Crackers has what is called "printer texture"; some people find it painful in use. It's more prominent on the small than any of the other sizes. My medium has none, neither did my large.

Everyone has different tastes. I personally would never use anything softer than BD's medium/shore 00-50, but that's simply what I enjoy. I think people would be able to give better recommendations if your wife were to directly describe the sensations she likes/dislikes, instead of just vague statements relayed through you.
I absolutely adore my large/medium merfolk from Pleasureforge. It is my go to toy for a quick session and feels amazing to me. Its filling and rubs my gspot marvelously. This is just my opinion of course. My second favorite is my small/medium sleipnir, the head feels amazing! It makes me orgasm very quickly but isnt as filling as merfolk.

@Escaflowne why not soft? Because I find without girth, anything around average penis size in soft just feels like a whole lot of nothing. It buckles easily and isnt firm enough to really stimulate anywhere internally.
Also echo isn't insanely textured either.
But again, like many have said here, different things feel good for different people.
I usually say for beginners to start with 5. It'll give you a good idea which way to go from there.

I`m one of the ones that have to really be in the mood to get good with a medium firmness toy.. I always prefer soft or super soft. I don`t really see any issue with soft firmness toys bending (I don`t think that ever happened to me though), not even supersoft honestly.. But that`s just me!

this is the album of my croxic from twin tails creations (ignore the jake in the album lol). this is my favorite toy for vaginal use ever. the head was off putting which put me off of getting one for a long time but its the absolute best toy everrrr. great for a filling feeling and is the best toy i've found out of 100 toys for gspot stim with gentle texture all around. TTC's firmness is higher than BD's so I am wanting to try it in their version of soft.
out of BD my favs would be sleipnir, crackers, and xar. i could describe sleipnir like croxic but croxic's curve and more distinct bump is better for gspot but is best in BD's medium firmness. crackers gives a lot of pressure for gspot, but in small it has to be in soft and in medium i like it in medium because it has less printer texture than the small. xar is a gspot magnet with a nice filling knot and i've never experienced shaft texture around my opening like it has which is super unique and i didnt know stim there was actually a point in trying near my opening. the base also is great for clit stim, especially if he has a cup because you can bend it more to rub against your clit or some people like to grind against it while riding, but i like it rub myself with the base as i prefer thrusting my toys, definitely a toy that should be in medium firmness over soft.
just because you were into echo, i had to get my small in firm to actually have the umph against my gspot. in any other firmness he was like a limp noodle. I even got a medium in medium and it was so squishy and did nothing for me which was depressing since it was gorgeous rogue gitd toy. I've recently replaced my medium with firm firmness also for the same reason. he's just a really thin toy in general so he had to be harder.
