  • With BD growing in popularity and their custom wait times, I honestly think they’re headed towards a tipping point where they’re going to get more orders than they can handle. I’m curious to see where BD goes in the next few months, since they’ve got to be on the verge of making some changes behind the scenes.

    @Snow Pony Their FAQ says 4-5 weeks. Even if it is 8 that's still 4 weeks less than the average customs are taking nowadays (about 3 months). You're probably right they aren't going to do something drastic like shut down customs, but I do hope they at least get some more employees soon.

    Then they recently changed it. I had a look in May, when I was curious about the wait times since It had been a year since my last order, and it said 5 - 8 weeks. It's been that long, for many people, for years. Last year, the two times I ordered customs, they took right at 8 weeks flat. For 1 toy. The year before, 8 weeks for 1 toy. Looks like their wait times thing was changed at some point in June.

    I'm curious to see if they start keeping up with their recently changed FAQ, or if orders will continue to take in excess of 8+ weeks. My most recent one took nearly 10.
    I'm upset the Kona I got isn't an RR/Aurora after all... I might just end up selling it ;;

    Idk if they are just basing it off of the fact it's a rogue instead? I haven't seen the toy I don't think? But Aurora toys did drop under the color name of rogue if that helps?

    @Bun they posted it in the adoption thread

    @Lapras_Lass @Bun @Snow Pony Don't get me wrong, it's gorgeous, but yeah, I was hoping to snag myself a true Aurora for collection purposes. I didn't even realize Auroras were marked as Auroras or were marked up by $40 (my Kona wasn't - I had no idea BD did that bc I've never even seen an Aurora in the wild before). I'm sure it's made with the same colors as Auroras but it's definitely a rogue or even a leftover pour
    I have to say the colors FB chooses for their inventory drops are getting increasingly bland imo :( They did some REALLY gorgeous signature colors 3 years ago, I don’t see why they don’t bring them back? I think I’ve only seen 3 toys dropped in the past year that were of a signature color, so it’s clear they CAN do them...... but they don’t want to, I guess?

    Maybe I should send them a ticket about it... I would totally buy more of their stuff if they just brought back the pretty, thoughtful pours. ;;

    @Snow Pony It is, but I'm not sure who's still in charge behind the FB toys pouring (it would make sense if TTC is fully operating everything FB-related now, but I've also heard otherwise, so...)
    But regardless, once in a blue moon I'll still see a signature pour show up in their inventory, so it's clear they can do them.

    I noticed that the pours are pretty boring now as well. Also, rarely anything but mini's left around. I wonder if they are just using extra silicone from doing their TTC work to pour these, like BD's old frankenpours?
    The promo images BD used for Unicorn Cake this year look terrible imo. They don’t seem representative of what UC normally looks like at all - they’re like 70%-75% dark purple. I really want a toy in UC but now I’m hesitant to get one because I realllly don’t want it looking like the toys shown in the promo photo. ;;

    Honestly, I've seen them come out looking like that and everything beyond. Marbles are unpredictable and hard to control.

    I would get something in UC, but it's not sparkly enough. :( If all colors were metallic, you bet I'd be all over that. Lol

    I’m mostly surprised all THREE toys they used for the promo images look the same. Since they’re unpredictable I figured there would be at least one good example in the bunch but nah.
    I’m thinking about getting a Zaratan in unicorn cake this month. The head on it is a little freaky so I’m wondering if it would be best in soft or medium?

    soft for insertion but medium for the pressure. its a difficult choice imo.

    Apparently, BD measures the head almost sideways, rather than around the perimeter, like say, for a blunt-headed toy like Sleipnir. It's putting the circumference around the head almost 3" off. That alone makes me extremely wary. Someone on another forum said you basically have to fold over the head and insert it. That sounds....uh...it makes him a hard pass for me, I think.

    That sounds awkward as hell... guess I’ll reconsider 😰
    I splurged and ordered a small surprise me Slikk from TTC since they were doing a 20% off sale! I’m a little nervous since “surprise me”s are risky but I’ve seen them do some really pretty stuff in the past.

    Ooo, a sale, you say? Tempting... Where do you see the sale btw?

    It was a 24-hour promo code they gave out yesterday on twitter... sadly I believe it’s over ;;
    I didn’t see any Blazes I liked in clearance :( I’m sure there will be some Easter sales/drops tomorrow so I might try for something then
    Does BD still do Frankenpours? I think I've only seen one in like... the past 5 months. I get the sense since they've gotten a lot more busy and mainstream in the past 3-4 years, they don't have the time to do them as much?

    I've seen a handful, but they are rare. I don't think busy has much to do with it, they just have better control of how much silicone they make to pour.

    They used to be really common back then but I think it has to do with the control factor and maybe also an incentive to not do frankenpours because they get discounted when they can make it look "rogue" instead
    I'm excited for what BD's going to do for April Fool's. I'm crossing my fingers it's something actually usable (unlike last year's brick... did anyone actually buy one?)
    Why is Bad Dragon's Meng $105? It's the same size as their mini models...
    Is it just because all one-sizes are default $105 (regardless of how big they actually are?) Or are Mengs more difficult to produce?
    I'd love a Meng but I'm pretty hesitant on paying twice as much for a mini size. 😬
