Edit 2: the definition of a vouch is someone whose account is at least 3 months old and has proven themselves reputable in the community.

Edit: okay, so after talking about it on discord. there are different options that people vvould be happy vvith and i dont think its fair to limit it to just vote for one option, so i'm giving people unlimited votes! hopefully this doesn't backfire and cause a tie lmfao but i think it'll be productive to see hovv this turns out, especially vvith the fact that i keep adding nevv options thanks to you lovely people vvho keep coming up vvith even better ideas than i had in the first place!

BEFORE VOTING PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:
by choosing the feedback option, even if you think its not used as much as it should be, it would force people to use the feature even more which also in turn keeps you even safer knowing how trustworthy your fellow community members are. Personally I think keeping current community members safe is more important than making it slightly easier for newer members, but we are going with the majority vote here!~

Hi everyone!!! I hope you understand why this is going down rn and that you're understanding of the hold on auctions currently after all this.

Okay, here's the breakdown:

Reddit stopped allowing in specific RR auctions. Apparently its fine to "price gouge" as they put it on regular toys and auctioning them, but not RR's. whatever, they can be posted here. However, because of people on reddit, we have run into the problem of artificial inflation with new accounts that we can't trust are serious in buying the toys or not.

The reason this is a problem is because RR's are already expensive enough and the prices get inflated enough, who wants to pay even more of a fortune when they are already paying one, right?

who will these rules affect?
for sellers, you'll still get your rightful large sums no problem for an RR without these fools.
for bidders, you won't get ripped off without knowing it.

I don't want to be a dictator and force rules you guys don't want. Therefore, I'm leaving this up to you guys to decide because I want you guys to be safe and protected and not taken advantage of. I see this problem and other members also did and that's why I decided to do this, but if more of you don't care and don't want these restrictions, I'm not going to force them on you by any means. However, if you think about it, you guys have these prerequisites so they don't affect you and just are in place to keep you safer in your transactions, so it's just up to you.

1. I'm not stopping auctions already in progress, this rule applies to future auctions. Previous auctions were made under different rules at the time and I'm just not gonna fux with that.

2. Auctions will not be allowed to be posted until after this poll is over to dictate what rules future auctions will take. Hopefully everyone votes enough so I don't have to keep auctions held for too long. It's up to you guys how long I have to wait to get these results so auctions can continue.

3. Everyone can vote for whatever options they agree with, your votes can be changed, and as the last option says, I will update the poll to add more options if people come up with them.

I can understand if people think 5 feedback is too much, 1 or 2 is too little imo. I can understand if people want peoples accounts to be older than a week as well. whatever you guys want, lets do it. Please give me feedback!

A small issue I can see with the 5 feed back one:
I've left a few feedbacks to others, but most of the time others don't leave feedback back to me, or they run into the site error that's once posted in #server-suggestions. I feel this would be unfair disadvantage for people who have the same problem as me if it did get most voted

I agree with this! I know many people don't even use the feedback feature.

i thought vve fixed this issue? it turned out that past mods still had a setting that made them unfeedbackable, but i thought i fixed it?

one main issue i see is that i have sold multiple times here and no one gives me feedback. so it's unfair to request 5 positive feedbacks.

additionally, i personally have much more of an issue with auctions on here and other sites where the owner puts up the toy and a starting bid, it goes up maybe $20 total and they aren't satisfied with the results so they pull the item entirely and apologize. i think that's scummy. they set a price they wanted bare minimum, got more than that price, but still pull it because it didn't skyrocket to 4x their purchase price.

I get having the five feedback idea, but as Vulperies and scylla pointed out not many people leave feedback or don't know about it. But how about having it so the account be a week old and/or the account has to comment on threads or actually be active?

did you message them again and ask for the feedback? that's vvhat i do vvhen people forget.

believe me, if someone just pulls out of an auction like that, that vvill not be taken kindly vvith staff. i can't stop people from doing that, but they don't get off scott free. that hasn't been an issue so far on this site though. our community is a lovely one.

i feel like people keep ignoring this fact though:

i never message asking for feedback for fear that they will take it as me being rude and passive aggressively leave a negative review in return

I think the 5 feedback is unfair, I've provided feedback for my 2nd hand purchases but got no feedback from the sellers. So I have 0 feedback, despite being an original member.

Also, if there are specific changes you think should be enacted? There's nothing specific being proposed here other than the feedback.

It may be fixed now? I had someone run into it even when another had left me feedback, I'll see if they can try again though

I do agree new users shouldn have a week old account prior to things like auctions. Edit: Not random posts to hit a limit nvm. But there is/was that Wisconsin scammer that always made new accounts for trades so I understand a post limit might not do anything.

For me personally 5 feedback might not be the best (dunno if 5 means 5 sales). For example, I've been on the BD forums actively since 2015 and here once that site pretty much died. Imo I'm pretty credible (at least when I bought things from others, I've never sold) so this rule wouldn't really benefit me if I were to do one or bid for an auction even if I wanted to.

As for needing 5 feedback to even bid on an auction....I've never sold anything so I can't get feedback that way. And the three people I have bought from were on the old forums. As of now, only one of these people is on DM (Corbett) and LizardBreath disappeared sadly so people to vouch for me is scarce. :\

Edit: So if the time comes where I actually am in a better financial spot and there's a RR auction with that 5 feedback in place... I'm kinda locked out of even participating because I don't sell my toys (even if they don't work for me). I dunno for me specifically and personally this would be punishing me for not selling my stuff... despite me being an active member for so long.

Could we have, like, five feedback or five people vouching for the person? I don't like the "left ten comments" idea because I think we'll get people leaving stupid comments just to hit the limit.

Ideally I'd also prefer the accounts to be older than a week, since many auctions go on for longer than a week. Maybe your account has to have been a week old as of the auction being posted, or something?

I voted for "week old + 5 feedback" but with these caveats. I want the strongest protections because what I value about this site is the community and I don't want a bunch of people coming in who have no interest in that and only want to nab those precious RRs.

I'd also like an option for sellers to be like... I reserve the right to sell only to people I trust because nobody wants to get scammed out of an RR either.

Ive asked multiple people for feedback. I think people just honestly forget. As long as you ask nicely and say you will also leave them feedback most people will happily oblige.

i agree about the comments! even if vve upped the comment amount to like 50 comments, still it enforces spamming threads randomly to reach the quota.

i can definitely add 5 feedback or vouches! hovv long of a time vvould you like to be added vvith the 5 feedback/vounches?

i'm glad you also care about protecting the members and the site!

i also vvould support someone if they didn't vvant to sell to a particular person as vvell. its your item and you get to dictate vvhat you do vvith it! unfortunately that doesn't go for putting a toy for auction and pulling it, but for most cases, i support the seller in their toy autonomy!

I know 1 feedback seems like a small amount, but it does at least prove that you're a somehow verified purchaser. Not everyone gives/gets feedback on every interaction, but they should get at least that. Not a ton of people will be willing to make an account and buy/sell just to fix an auction, or at least no casual trolls.
the reason this is such an important issue right novv is because the nasty people vve normally dont have to deal vvith are going to come over soon vvhen they learn that here is basically the only place you can auction rr's anymore. before these scammers that normally reddit lurk come, vve are trying to prepare. vve have been lucky so far, but you never knovv. no one expected the vvisconsin scammer to hit, you cant predict the future.
