A Couple Concerns with Selling

So...I've never sold any toys before and I've been procrastinating on making a sales post due to a couple concerns.

For this one, kinda a weird paranoia I have. Has anyone ever sold to someone and when they received the toy they either tried or have filed a chargeback with you? If it went through did they send the toy back or did they get to keep it?

Does anyone use the insured option for selling? So like if the toy got lost in transit who receives the money if a toy gets lost; the seller or buyer?

@GammaTheDickNiffler didn't this happen to you?

I tried to file a chargeback on someone before. I didn't end up following through with it because they kept begging and it just got weird. It's technically against Paypals TOS, but in my experience they have helped. I think it depends vvhat paypal CS person you get to review your stuff. Because of this, some people like to not fill out their invoices with details, I do because there's nothing wrong with it and I've had over 125 sales transactions and it keeps my history right because its a lot of toys to keep track of lol.

i don't pay any extra to insure anything. if the toy gets lost, the seller should refund the buyer and would take the free insured 50 dollars given. that's what was going to happen when my xar got lost anyway. you could show paypal that the item didn't make it with usps and force a refund if they choose to not give it.

edit: i haven't ever had anyone charge me back and only tried to do with one person once. its not something you should worry about.

Thanks so much! That pretty much answered everything I was concerned with :3

@GammaTheDickNiffler as Bun mentioned I think you did have a chargeback aimed at you involving that FB Pocket Port...how did the incident turn out in the end for you? (Honestly this is the incident I had in mind and wanted to see how common this was to happen to sellers)

I just got to work, but I'll reply back with that situation as soon as I get on lunch at 5p PST. I've got screenshots!

Over the course of 50 or so transactions (selling), I've never had that happen. Always use a PayPal invoice, keep your shipping receipts, update the PayPal invoice with all tracking information, ship only to the address listed by the buyer, ship insured and that should protect you. 100%.

If you're especially paranoid someone may try and claim the toy was damaged on delivery, you can always make a video that shows you boxing the toy, sealing it, even addressing it. Once the toy is out of your hands, it's no longer your responsibility. Always send insured, just in case. Depending on what insurance you take, it could cost extra, but it's usually only a few dollars.

If someone is rotten enough to scam and file a chargeback on top of it, they're likely not going to send the toy back. Just follow generic safety precautions when selling and you should be fine.

Hiya @Phelvia I'm back!
So, in my case, thankfully there was no chargeback, as the buyer had agreed multiple times during the pre-sale stage that the item was correct and that they wanted it. They also admitted that the mistake was theirs, after claiming that I misrepresented the product.
Shortly after the sale, they made the unfortunate decision to accuse me of being a grifter, as well as post complaints about their experience on two separate threads, one of which I addressed.
Again, thankfully there was no chargeback, as they realized that they were completely in the wrong and the matter was then considered settled.

If you want details about anything, feel free to PM me for the screenshots. :3

As for your other question, insurance is generally considered sufficient at the standard $50, though for multiple toys or particularly rare or costly ones, I'll pay more for the extra insurance.

Hope I answered your questions! ^.^ PM if you need anything :3
