After having these previous auction rules in place for awhile now and seeing how they have turned out, the prerequisites that were previously in place ended up being too much. We have heard the feedback and decided to slacken the reigns a bit as we are all amazing community members here.

Previous Auction Participation Rules:
- an account must be one week old
- have at least 3 feedback or vouches from other users before they are able to participate in auctions

Updated Auction Participation Rules:
- the bidding account MUST be at least week old still
BUT
- you must have at least 1 positive feedback that isn't by the auctioneer you are bidding from
OR
- you must have gotten this achievement below
9630

We believe that this change is for the better as you can show your presence through having previously made a transaction shown through feedback; or if second hand buying and selling isn't your thing, you can show your presence through just participating and chatting with your friends here on the site! Also, this leaves people less to get through if they decide they want to come over from another side of the community as not everyone was able to get vouches, but everyone can certainly participate in the conversation!💜

Our moderators and I will start enforcing this rule upon this thread being posted! Vouches are no longer acceptable forms of feedback, but feel free to make them regardless (as a neutral feedback) to help show others that you have previously encountered this user and had a great experience!

Updated Auction Rules:

- We are adding that if the winning bidder backs out of the auction, the auction must be redone and it will not go to the second highest bidder.

Reasons for this new rule: We believe that by adding this, it also continues to prevent false inflation of the price of the item during an auction. In the past we have seen this occur multiple times where 2 people are bidding to the end and the winner backs out leaving the second place person with a high amount to dish out where it shouldn't be valid. If the auction was ran in a real life auction or other big sites that run auctions like ebay, they cancel the auction and restart. We feel like this balances out the need to have so much feedback/vouches in our previous rule, giving us the flexibility in these new rules that you see above.

Added Harassment Rules

In my absence, it has come to my attention that people have recently been getting a lot of harassment when winning an auction or a contest. Also in the past, DM has experienced users being harassed for other random reasons as well. We have always protected those that get harassed, although it wasn't a written rule. We even already have in place rules for when we post contests that you have the option to have your name opted out if you so choose to prevent such an occurrence. However, we believe that there should be a written rule on our stance on this and want you to know we are here if you need the assistance in such a case. Therefore, we are adding this rule:

- If we see or receive proof of harassment, whether it be through another social media or on DM itself, we have 0 tolerance for bullying/harassment. The harasser will be spoken to and either be warned or banned based on the circumstances.

- If you choose to divulge information of this sort to our team, you will have complete anonymity.

We want to continue to make DM a safe place to buy and sell and give you peace of mind that when you come to this site, you will not have to worry long about nasty users.

As a last note, we still are enforcing needing to report to a mod if someone is bidding on your silent auction. You can choose a mod of your choice, but this is solely due to making sure that every bid is valid. While it gets sellers more money to not enforce this rule, we protect the interest of the buyer to not have to pay an inflated price while auctions already go for a lot of money as it is. This rule has a lot of controversy tied to it, which I'm still not sure as to why, but it remains unchanged.

If you would like more details on the other aspects and rules on auctions, please read this thread here. It has been updated with the information above as well. https://dragonmoor.com/index.php?threads/auction-accepting-offers-rules.1467/

If you do not like this arrangement, there are other options for you to use for your Auctioning purposes. Remember that this is for the benefit of all members of the community; and we are doing what we believe is right to keep you and others safe. Hope to see you around the Moor! 💜

Could you clarify what qualifies as valid feedback?

1) I would assume that the feedback must be either positive or neutral, but we might should specify that. I know that if I were auctioning, I wouldn't want to ship to someone who had a 1 week old account and only a negative feedback.

2) Is it okay for members to get feedback from people they have bought or sold from on other sites, or is it only considered valid if the sale was done on Dragon Moor?

Also, I don't remember this being addressed in the previous auction rules, so this might be something to consider: Can a seller refuse to accept bids from a user if they are not comfortable with the bidder's feedback (e.g., 2 positive but 4 negative feedbacks, or all the positive feedbacks are from 1 week old accounts, etc.) or possibly if they have personally had a bad experience buying or selling from them? Of course a seller can always cancel altogether, but for transparency, it might be a good idea to have a clear policy whether a seller can just say, "I'm sorry, but I'm not comfortable selling to you, so I can't accept your bid" and keep the auction open, or if the seller would need to contact a mod to discuss the concern, in order to avoid unfairly disqualifying someone because we would prefer to sell to another bidder. I can see it from both angles, so just wondering if this issue has been discussed somewhere before or how the staff feels about it. I'm not planning an auction, but it crossed my mind and I figured I'd bring it up while the thread is young.

1. i guess i'll just change the word to positive feedback then!
2. we have a feedback feature here on DM, so if someone makes an account to leave the feedback from a transaction off site, thats acceptable which i believe is already stated in the auction rules about feedback? but ill have to double check

we have always enforced that anyone can deny anyone from their sales, we cannot tell someone they must have a transaction with anyone they dont want to. this has been a policy here since we opened.

Are there rules in place for who can put toys up for auction? I have one I would like to auction but would like to be sure I won't be breaking rules as I have mostly bought off of Reddit and did a trade that started here but ended on Reddit.

(i'm not a mod but) the rules discussed here are for who participates, AKA makes offers, in an auction. I think selling in auction form works with the same rules of regular sales (e.g. you need a photo showing the toy(s) you're selling and a recent timestamp). You don't really need having pre-existing positive feedback to start an auction.
If that Reddit user who bought your toy has an account here, they can still leave feedback for you here.
