Because "accepting offers" on toys has become so popular recently and after we finished testing some rules with multiple auctions, there are now officially auction rules.

[Disclaimer: adding OBO (or best offer) after a specified price does not qualify for this set of rules.]

1. You can no longer just "accept offers." You must make an official auction to be fair to the community.

2. Auctions need to have their own sales thread separate from their regular toy sales threads. There may be more than one toy auctioned per auctioning thread.

3. Use the two Auction Prefixes for your auction thread. (Public Auction & Silent Auction)

4. A soft end date for the auction must be presented, but every bid extends the auction by 12 hours longer to prevent sniping and allow other bidders time to bid in case they were sleeping, working, at school, just busy doing something and couldn't bid. It makes it more fair for the community. Post publicly the last time the last bid was received and have this be separate for each toy being auctioned.

5 A. Public Auctions:

You must alert your bidders that it will be a public auction by using the "Public Auction" Thread Prefix.
In this format, the bidders would just comment on the thread to bid.

5 B. Silent Auctions:

You must use the "Silent Auction" Thread Prefix.
The seller must submit proof of each bid to a non participating staff member as they are received to prevent false bid bumping.

6. No off-site bids. I'm sorry, but if you'd like to participate in an auction on the forums, you can do so by signing up for free to submit your bid. This is to prevent false bid bumps as proof of off-site bids could be faked. Plus we have asked multiple auctioneers to share their bids to prove they weren't false and refused, so unfortunately it's now just banned.

If people continue to not follow auction rules, we might have to ban them from the site all together.
If rules are blatantly not followed, that can lead to a warning or a ban at our discretion.
