Anyone else pissed off about Bad Dragon's recent retiring of Zaratan?

Oh definitely....it's really upsetting tbh :\

Here's every one they've retired;
Bruiser, Winston's tail, Vasu, Crash, Trent, Xar, Axel, Gryphon/Glyph, Zaratan, Scorn, Elliot/Anthrodragon, Elden...which as of now is 12 models, not counting Archer..the only one they brought back. Still wondering what that other model was they teased earlier in the month...it'd be nice if they revamped the ones they retire if they're older (like adding fur or feathers to Glyph). It's depressing because they're retiring really unique models.

You can still order them but it's more steps via CS now, versus just having the option. I feel like it'd be easier to just leave the option there, especially since customs are only open once a month now.

I agree, I'd say it'd be easier to just keep the option there or maybe even have a page of the site saying all the retired toys. I hope they reboot some of the older models, like how you said.

Zaratan has been on my list since I got into the hobby and I’m so sad to see it go. :C
I’m looking to finally snag one as soon as possible.

I was more pissed about Vasu being retired since I've never had any interest in Zaratan. I don't think the new models they are putting out are that great to begin with. The ones they are retiring are more unique.

I'm a bit frustrated about that, myself, because I wanted to get one to complete the trinity of toys based on a few of my Sonic Rule 63 OCs (the others I've already got toys of, or am getting a replacement toy of).

Which one, if you don't mind me asking? (And colors if you had any in mind)

I've got three, four technically if you add in Rule 63 Metal Sonic: one of Rotor the Walrus (which I'm getting a toy made of), one of the one-off echidna character Cobar (who was going to be Rotor's lover in the comics, and who I already have a toy for), and the oft-hated character Tommy Turtle (which I wanted the Zataran for; basic turtle colors of yellowish-green base with pinkish-red shaft).

I miss being able to see the sizes of the retired toys in the real life sliding scale tool... much harder to visualize them now without it

So on the original forum, they had a huge toy comparison thread.

I made a thread in the same spirit of the OG one.

If you need comparison pics we can try to help. I know reddit has a link to a measurement chart somewhere, but I'm a visual person and a physical comparison to other stuff helps me. I know it's not helpful like the real size tool though 😅

Oooo! I did not realize that existed thank you so much for sharing this!

Update time.
Since my last post the new toys that are retired are:

Twitch
Anje
Hanns
Xerxes/Royal Dragon
Gunner/Guardian

At this point I don't even know what they're doing this for. "For new exciting models to come!"
Since they started this we've gotten Sveiin, Updated Archer, Sahleen, and Ky'el. So...4 of the 17 retired, one of them was just updated and isn't new so technically 3 new toys. (and I find the new toys rather bland compared to what they're retiring. Most of the dicks are becoming more human-esque but with different textures)

BD doesn't have any trace of these models on their store, so if people want them, it'll be word of mouth via Reddit, Twitter, here, etc.

They really should do a retired page just so we can see the measurements/real size tool...etc. (I'll update or someone else can, for the comparison thread here).

Kinda sad to see the direction BD headed but I've said that enough on the OG forums when they started touting they were streamlining.
Oh well, I've gotten into buying from other makers and they've all been amazing and I love the truly unique models all the other creators in the community have come up with.

Update again.

Goodbye Kippy, Snow Leopard/Snep, and Kage.

New retired total: 20
Oof I'm late. When did they announce they were retiring those models?
I feel like they kinda hide their retirement announcements in their emails - real easy to miss if you're just scanning 🤔

Okay nvm ignore that I was picking through my old emails and saw it. Like I said, easy to miss. 🤷‍♂️

I'm pretty bummed with how BD is going. They used to be a lot more flexible with their colourations and also their firmnesses. (I have a cored Anthro Dragon, and a Xar with crackers signature. I recently inquired about getting one and they no longer do it, which is a pity and makes me adore the toys I have even more).
Xar is my favourite, and I know I can still order the model, they just made hoops to jump through. And yeah, the newest toys are just ... tubes. Maybe a bit of texture, but eh. I miss the monstery stuff, they've retired all the cool looking toys that appeal to more monster inclined beings.

I'm sad to see Zaratan go, as I did like the model. They do tend to rotate models a lot, especially as they introduce new ones.

... has no one created a thread to keep track of all the retired toys on DragonMoor or somewhere on the internet yet? It might be possible to find some of the information from wayback machine, that is useful too. Images seem to suck on the wayback machine...

There seems to be some retired models forgotten about in this thread, but they are much older (Varka, Naga, Moko, Dolphin, Orca, Bruce the Shark, Luka the Otter). I'm not as familiar with the newer models, as I sort of... ditched BD when the introduced the Demon Dick and some of the marketing behind that. Most of the latest models just don't appeal to me either.

I want a complete list of retired ones now. I have missed some models too, apparently. There are a lot of other creators now too, as mentioned.

Edit: Watching the scroll through toys in 2014... There is promotional art behind the toys.

Oh yeah. I remember when I first used to check out their site and they used to have background images that gave a bit of insight as to what the toy had to its name.

Yup! I loved them and some of the stories definitely sold me on a model 😅

I actually made another thread here that has all the old and original stories here just so they didn't get lost forever (It lacks a few of the new ones because, well, you can just go on the site for them lol)
