Sealing a CT hole

First a disclaimer:
- Together with a recent order from SquarePegToys (SPT) I ordered some PegAwayPutty (super-soft) for this little project and some other possible modifications. I'm not affiliated with them in any other way.
- The Xar in question was ordered on October 27th 2017. I do not know if BD has made any changes to their formula before or since then, in regards to the putty adhering to the toy.
- Toy: XL Xar, 5/8 split

I got a Xar with a CT that flopped due to some minor cosmetic blemishes a while back. However I found out that I'm not that much into the CT feature, primarily due to more complicated cleaning and importing cumlube in general is expensive. As a result of that the toy hasn't been used that much, which is a shame. I've been looking for a way to plug the CT hole for a while now, and the putty from SPT seemed like an ideal candidate.

The tip was washed with a strong dish-washing detergent, as well as my hands to get rid of oils etc. When the surface was dry I took a pea-sized chunk of the putty and activated it. I then proceeded to make a small protrusion that went down the CT hole by perhaps 0.5cm (0.2in). After putting that in place I carefully spread the rest of the putty over the top to cover a larger area for it adhere to. For a couple of minutes I gently pushed down on the putty to make sure that it properly adhered. I then gave it 2.5 hours to cure, and I think it actually worked! I couldn't see any of the putty's edges separating from the silicone when applying considerable force with my finger. Should anything come loose I'll make an update. Pictures of the final result & the putty used.

Update 2nd March 2019: After a recent session I cannot see any changes. It's still firmly sealed in place, and the bond seems secure.

I'm interested to see how this goes. I've wondered about something similar; I'm just not much into the CT on my Glyph, but I still want to keep it.

Edit: Honestly, I think I'd rather just trade mine. Still interested to see how this works out though!

Thanks for this! I've wondered if this could be done. I'm not one for tubes, but there are some really great deals that come up in Clearance now and then.

Thanks for the information. I've been wondering if it could work with Sil'Proxy, considering it's way more easily accessible in my area.

It could very well be doable, not sure how much area/volume it safely can cover. I've only ever used it in fixing a smaller tear in one of my penetrables, so I cannot say for sure. Using a small sacrificial piece from the toy, i.e. the base, and gluing it on-top with Sil'Poxy might work as well when thinking about it.

I wanted to do this myself, but they don't seem to sell the putty anymore. Does anyone have any alternatives to PegAwayPutty? I know of the sil-poxy, but I saw "EasyMold® Silicone Putty", and wondered if this would work the same way. Thank you.

The best way to make putty or silicone or the silicone glue stick to cured sillicone is by making tiny incisions with a sharp needle, many of them, that way the new stuff interlocks with the cured silicone. This can be tricky to do down a cum tube, but on more accessible surfaces that and/or priming the cured silicone by sanding it with grade 220 should work. Otherwise at some point in the future it may come apart. I’ve tried this to seal cracks in toys with silicone glue and just regular Ecoflex 30, and the fixed toys are holding up

It also helps using a syringe without a needle to inject the new silicone down on those tiny tunnels you made with the needle, to make sure that the new material interlocks
