First a disclaimer:
- Together with a recent order from SquarePegToys (SPT) I ordered some PegAwayPutty (super-soft) for this little project and some other possible modifications. I'm not affiliated with them in any other way.
- The Xar in question was ordered on October 27th 2017. I do not know if BD has made any changes to their formula before or since then, in regards to the putty adhering to the toy.
- Toy: XL Xar, 5/8 split
I got a Xar with a CT that flopped due to some minor cosmetic blemishes a while back. However I found out that I'm not that much into the CT feature, primarily due to more complicated cleaning and importing cumlube in general is expensive. As a result of that the toy hasn't been used that much, which is a shame. I've been looking for a way to plug the CT hole for a while now, and the putty from SPT seemed like an ideal candidate.
The tip was washed with a strong dish-washing detergent, as well as my hands to get rid of oils etc. When the surface was dry I took a pea-sized chunk of the putty and activated it. I then proceeded to make a small protrusion that went down the CT hole by perhaps 0.5cm (0.2in). After putting that in place I carefully spread the rest of the putty over the top to cover a larger area for it adhere to. For a couple of minutes I gently pushed down on the putty to make sure that it properly adhered. I then gave it 2.5 hours to cure, and I think it actually worked! I couldn't see any of the putty's edges separating from the silicone when applying considerable force with my finger. Should anything come loose I'll make an update. Pictures of the final result & the putty used.
Update 2nd March 2019: After a recent session I cannot see any changes. It's still firmly sealed in place, and the bond seems secure.
