I see occasionally people saying they have to crop their photos or fiddle with them to post them onto the site, but if you don't feel like doing that, using a hosting service will make your life much easier. For example you could use imgur and post your photos hidden to those who don't have the direct link for wherever you post it or other picture hosting providers as well. That way you can just upload your picture, plop your link in the post, and press post.
Also if it's a photo from somewhere else, you can just post the link to it. Right clicking gives you the option to show any picture in another window and you can get the url instead of having to save it anywhere. This goes for gifs and videos of course as well.
